Missing Recurve Bow

Red & black “Mins” branded riser and “Uukha” VX+ limbs

  • On Thursday July 31st 2025, Marc and I arrived in Lac La Biche AB, to shoot in the Team Canada 3D Team Trials & the Canadian National Championships. The competition was beginning the following morning, Fri August 1st. We were getting settled in, doing tasks, meeting friends, picking up groceries etc.
  • At about 6.40pm today Thurs 31st July our truck tailgate was accidentally left open and we drove 5 mins from the Independant supermarket to our AirBNB, just past Young’s Beach. My fully strung recurve bow and 2 arrow tubes containing 2 dozen arrows in a brown fabric case slid out enroute.
  • We realised when we arrived at our accomodation what had happened, so we immediately back-tracked, expecting to see it in the road as it was only a few minutes prior, but my bow case was nowehere to be seen. A full search was conducted, involving a number of archery friends from our AirBNB, but it wasn’t there.
  • Within an hour or so, a witness said he saw a person from a dark coloured car, pick up an object which was resembled my bow case, from the road inbetween Young’s Beach and Shell.  This occurred right around the time that my bow was lost from the truck.
  • The RCMP were called and my bow photos were posted on numerous local Facebook pages. I desperately hoped that it would be handed in at the Detachent or taken to Lakeland Archers (given that LLB is a world-famous stage for National and International archery events).
  • To date, my bow has not surfaced anywhere.
  • It is a 100% unique bow, you cannot buy this handmade recurve riser as it’s bespoke-made in Eastern Europe. The Uukha VX+ limbs can no longer be purchased as they are an older model.
  • There are around 7 arrows in fluorescent yellow, around 7 arrows in fluorescent orange and a dozen arrows in red & white with a maple leaf design. ALL of the arrows have my initials KB on the arrow wrap.
  • If you’re a Lac La Biche local, a resident of AB or BC, an archer, an archery shop, a pawn shop….PLEASE consider sharing this page and photos of my bow, so I can hopefully get it back.
